The best way to make money in Therian Saga is doing dungeons because you get rare materials that can't be gathered. Before Lanfar and being able to make an inn, the best fighting companions is gained by taming. Invest the 40 silver in fauna, and some extra silver in a good whip and hunting knife (check guild storage for tools that can be borrowed), you will get back a lot more just from selling steel weapons that drop in dungeons.
Follow the starting quests and just keep doing tougher and tougher animals Hunting: Hare - Doe - Stag - Auroch - Boar - Bear Taming: Hare - Doe - Stag - If you got good enough tools you can now make a jump straight to Lynx (needs hare meat) - Boar (Apples) - Bear (Bovine meat from aurochs)
Now you go do mushroom cave and servin tower. You also need to do the starting quest from Mave in Hawkoria. With this done you get the quest to save Yraen. This guy is just too strong. He hunts, he tames, he has leadership and he fights very well. With him in the pack you can get trough all of the dungeons in Hawkoria and gain access to Lanfar
The Landel islands quests only require you to find proofs of the intangible to get to lanfar, you don't have to beat each park Correct order for parks: Acacia, Beryl, Wulvera, Acacia, Beryl
With access to Lanfar you will then be able to collect valuable materials for your trade very quickly, like bluerock. However only a few can be gathered automaticly with t1 companions.

Here's some added advice: once you get Yraen (or before, if you like the fauna skill), it is worth it to get taming up to get a bear or two, as they have the best defenses for the level of taming required (19), and two great offenses. A lynx can be helpful now as well for the piercing offense, and much later for its mountain, so it is recommended you pick one of those up. Note that if you really want to, you can also go for a Varanus now in Longclaw Mine, but it is not necessary and once you reach Lanfar a behiran is all around the best taming creature you want to get for the sake of combat.
Furthermore, if you do the parks in the order above (Acacia, Beryl, Wulvera), you can actually find 1 proof of the intangible in Acacia, and 3 in the subsequent parks assuming you get the keys as you go (no need to revisit any parks). This is perhaps a more efficient way to do so (there are more than 7 proofs of the intangible total).
